There are over 3,000 kids in Omaha who do not have a bed to sleep in every night, many of them sleep on the floor or couch cushions if they are lucky. These kids do not get enough sleep and that has a negative impact on their energy to learn in school or participate in extracurricular activities. Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a nationwide organization that builds and delivers beds to children in need. The Omaha chapter built and delivered 1280 beds last year and are on track to deliver as many this year.
All of you have an opportunity to be a part of this great joy of giving a kid a new bed because Hope church is sponsoring a 20 bed build and collecting bedding to donate to Sleep in Heavenly Peace. We are collecting twin bedding, blankets, and pillows to be delivered with these and many more beds. There will be collection barrels in the church lobby through October 25th.
On Saturday, October 31, from 9 am – noon, you can volunteer with the Hope team to build beds. This Build-A-Bed project requires no woodworking experience or skills!
